Bangalore to Yercaud

Yercaud is a hill station in Salem District, in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. It is situated at an altitude of 1515 metres (4970 ft) above sea level, and the highest point in Yercaud is the Servarayan temple. The hill station is named owing to the abundance of forest near the lake, the name signifying Lake Forest. As a popular tourist destination, Yercaud is also called as Jewel of the South.

Yercaud is connected to the city of Salem, Tamil through a Highway of 28 km. Coffee and citrus fruits, most notably oranges, are grown in abundance, as well as bananas, pears and jackfruit.

The major industry is tourism, eco tourism with resorts amid high trees and plantations.

Emerald Lake

Yeracaud Emerald Lake is the most alluring aspect of Yeracaud is its big yet natural lake is very popularly known as Emerald Lake. It is surrounded by some wonderful cloud peaked hills and a well-preserved garden on its banks. It also has a floating fountain in the lake.

Pagoda Point

Yeracaud Pagoda Point is also known as Pyramid Point is a view point that is located in the eastern part of Yeracaud hills. There is Rama Temple located between the piles of stones. It is believed to be built by the local tribes. One can have a beautiful view from here.

Killiyur Falls

Yeracaud Killiyur Falls is the electrifying and spectacular cascade is in the neighbourhood of Yeracaud Lake. The plenty of water that endlessly falls from the Killiyur valley is the water from the Emerald Lake and the Shevaroy Hills from a mounting height of 300ft.

Botanical Grden

Yeracaud Botanical Garden is a heaven for nature lovers. It has the wonderful flora, the Orchid Garden and the Green House in the Botanical Garden. There is an Orchidarium that has 30 species of orchids and is ranked as the third largest of all the Orchidariums in India.
